The Sound of Summer

Corona anyone? : )

Our Haven

A yearly tradition: Grand Haven.   We prefer to go to the beach at the end of the summer season.  Thankfully, this day fell on a semester break.  We packed a picnic basket and a blanket and headed towards the same secluded spot on the beach where the tall beautiful grass meets the water...

There we lay and listen...

... There we lay and listen to the sound of waves crashing until the day came to a close.  Our little haven on a summer's day.

Summer's Last Shadow

When the summer gathers up her robes of glory,
And, like a dream, glides away.
Sarah Helen Whitman

The sun casted this shadow on the wall of our dining room yesterday, the last day of summer.

We had a mild summer which I enjoyed.  Although most of my free time was not spent in the garden as one had hoped, my summer was filled with carefree days as summer days should be.  I hope you will enjoy the coming posts on the beginning and end of last season.

Market Day, Market Date

One of the simple pleasures of living in town is enjoying market day.  Although it's a rare occasion nowadays for Patrick to join me on my market stroll, we managed to sneak one date here this past summer.  (I still can't believe summer just came and went.)  I remember this morning well.  It was a cool day and the walk from home to the farmer's market was relaxing and sweet.  We took our time, albeit fifteen minutes of talking and holding hands.  These are the type of dates we often prefer and I certainly am up for it at any time.  Who can resist the fresh air, loving company, being with the community, and good food.  Yes, let's not forget the good and healthy food that the wonderful and hard working farmers provide for us.  They are a great blessing.

Hello It's Me!

A playful picture taken by Até Delsa Thompson.

Are you guys still there?  It's me.  I'm back!  How I've missed you all.

Let's see, where do I begin? First and foremost a big hello to Leo and company.  I got your text at the strike of midnight EST while I was away at a fabulous wedding.  I too, can't believe we made it a month without logging on line.  I have to say hats off to you Leo!  I had no idea I chose quite the disciplined competitor.  We had so much fun and laughter behind the scenes this past month.  At the end it was a fight to a draw.  Suffice it to say, there was no prize to be  collected.  (Too bad I didn't get my Tiffany wallet but I'm relieved I don't have to take Leo to a men's club. LOL! : )

So, hello again to you and new viewers from Leo's Facebook.  Thank you for visiting here and for being patient.  More to come...

Bring It On!

11:09 p.m. EST: Okay everyone, it appears that I've accepted a dare and I have less than an hour left on the clock before it starts...
Roommate Leo and I have decided to use the time spent on Facebook (for Leo) and on blogging (yours truly) for more important priorities. For those of you on Facebook, you know how addictive that can be and for those of you who have been following me here, you know how much I enjoy posting, so this will definitely be a challenge for us both.
We'll be hands off beginning tonight at midnight and have set the deadline for September 12th, an entire month! Although we have not settled on what the winner will get or what the looser will have to do, we're gearing up for a good match. I must add that we're head-to-head when it comes to discipline. It'll be a close match for sure. Nevertheless, I will try my best to hold the urge to post the pictures and stories I've collected so far and the ones that will follow in the coming month...
There will be updates from "The Mister", lots more on "Just for Fun", and definitely places for "Gone Wandering". I promise. Wish me luck!

Coffee Break

I orchestrate my mornings to the tune of coffee.
Harry Mahtar
True. This has become my morning ritual this week. This cappuccino is made with strong smooth espresso and sweet creamy milk. The kind that must be sipped gently to appreciate the care that went into making it. Yummy isn't it? Cappuccino milk froth is such a delicate art and seeing this makes me start my day with smile.

It's been a long week and there's much more still to do... I think I'll take a break for a bit, so I'll catch-up with you all later...
Poutoux,
Michelle
