Bordeaux

We ventured to Bordeaux to meet Barbara and her family.  We were greeted with a warm welcome the moment we walked into their home.  It was as if we've been friends for a long time.  Barbara was gracious to share her delicious French traditional cuisine with us, husband Laurent amazed us with his wine collection (he's quite the wine connoisseur), daughter Eva entertained us endlessly with her cute charm and never-ending chatter, other daughter Manon was sweet and greeted us with her playfulness too (she's an equestrian, impressive!).

Barbara et Laurent: Merci du fond du coeur pour votre gentile hospitalite et votre agreable compagnie.  Nous esperons vous voir aux U.S. et vous retourner l'invitation.  En ettendant, nous restons en contact.

Eva's toy was overtaken. Boys will be boys...
Gracious host Laurent, always keeping the good wine coming.
Joyful company and conversation over dinner.
Unbelievably great wine!  Each one had their distinct flavor and character.
A very delicious four-course meal generously prepared by Barbara. Every bite was oh so good.  Food coma followed.
Salad with fried duck liver.
Slow-cooked duck and sausage on a bed of beans.
An array of flavorful cheeses.
Dark chocolate mousse, strawberry ice cream, strawberry sponge cake, and chocolate-toffee cookies.
After dinner, we went for a walk in downtown Bordeaux and stopped by this incredible wine shop.  The higher you go the higher the quality of wine.

Chateau Latour in all its glory... about $1200!

A wonderful and memorable visit in Bordeaux.
